Dr. Jan returns to TIC after her retirement from the Bureau of Medical Services with the United States Department of State. She was a Regional Medical Officer posted to Indonesia, Nigeria and Yemen. Prior to that she was the Medical Director of TIC from 2001 until 2006 and family medicine private practice in rural North Dakota from 1990 until 2001.
She obtained her medical degree and residency training from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. After residency she fulfilled her public health service scholarship practicing family medicine in the Republic of Marshall Islands, then part of the US trust territories for 4 years.
Dr. Jan is board certified in family medicine and a diplomate of the American Academy of Family Medicine. She has clinical expertise in a broad range of family medicine from pregnancy to hospice care. She is also an instructor for the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Live support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Stop the Bleeding and community first aid.
She has further expertise in mass causality response training and triage. She has a prior degree in nursing and also a diploma in nurse anesthesia. She is an instructor in critical care nursing curriculum of Trauma Nursing and Emergency Nursing.
Her children are grown and will not accompany her although they all wish they were coming back to Tashkent with their many wonderful memories of living and attending school in Tashkent.
